THINKING OF GIVING UP SMOKING?

Quitting Smoking Can Be Easier Than You Think!

Smoking - so expensive. So bad for your health. And so hard to stop...

I managed. I haven't had a cigarette nor wanted one either for must be nearly twenty years now. That's right, sitting here it all starts to come back... I knew I had to stop, the cost was burning a hole in my pocket and my health was deteriorating. I was puffed out just reaching for a beer! I'd tried to stop and I'd failed, every time I had a meal or I had a pint in the pub that enormous urge would take me over. I couldn't think straight, I had to have a fag.

How did I beat it? One step at a time. First thing, don't have a fag the minute you wake up. Try it, you'll be surprised how easy this first step is to do. Your body wants nicotine because you didn't have a cigarette while you were asleep so it's hurting, but you can make it hurt for just a little while longer if you really want to. Decide to yourself you're not going to have a ciggy till after breakfast. Trust me, it's easier than you think it is! Try it for a week or so, you'll do it, it's much easier than you think!

Then try saying, ok I did that, now I'm not going to have one till half an hour after my breakfast. Again, that can be far easier to do than you imagine. Do you have a routine after breakfast? Busy yourself with a routine. I KNOW part of your after-breakfast routine is having a ciggy but just concentrate more on the other parts of your routine. Keep that up for a week and you're a long way towards quitting altogether!

That's how I did it, I went through the day pushing my first fag of the day back by half an hour, waiting a week or so every time. Before you know it you'll be going the whole morning without smoking and that's a big accomplishment when you're getting though a couple of packs a day.

Mind you, if there were 'quit smoking' programmes like they have now back in those days maybe I wouldn't have bothered. Maybe I'd have simply have tried the programme. I don't think these things were around back in those days - well, of course they weren't, there wasn't any internet for a start so even if they'd been around I wouldn't have come across them, most probably. So perhaps you're lucky you're trying to give up now when there are other options than sheer willpower available to you.

Tell you what though. Have a go at giving up on your own. You can do it. If you want it badly enough, you'll do it without spending money on a programme to help you. You've got this site to help you, you've got my words to encourage you.

You can always come back here and click here if you feel you need to. Give it a go on your own!
